Did you ever wonder if you could trust those rating sites on their reviews of movies? I mean all those strangers can’t know if you’re gonna like a movie! Leave it to just one stranger... me. I’m gonna tell you whether or not you should watch movies (there will be spoilers). Let’s go.
Movie name: Clown
Year: 2016 (US release date)
Main character(s): The dad who gets turned into the clown, the wife, the kid, and the old guy who knows how to kill clowns.
Notable cast members: The wife played Lily on the 4400…so…that’s cool.
One line-ish plot summary: When an entertainer cancels on his son's birthday party last minute, a father dons a clown suit he found in an empty house. Trouble ensues!
Best character: Uhhh... hm... the... Old man I suppose.
Worst character: The dad makes a lot of bad decisions throughout the movie, so I'll give it to him. The mom's pretty bad too.
Best moment: When the dad finds out that he's transforming into a child eating monster he tries to blow his head off. He doesn't die, but there is rainbow colored blood splatter on the wall behind him. That was cool.
Worst moment: When the wife almost feeds an innocent child to her monster husband in an attempt to appease the monster inside to release its hold on her husband. Not cool lady. Also, I wasn't super sold on the mythology that clowns came from humans imitating clown like monsters who live in the mountains and eat children.
Plot twists?: None really, the movie goes about how you think it will.
How was the ending?: Pretty awesome. When she finally realizes he cannot/does not want to be saved, the wife uses force on a chain wrapped around her husband-monster's neck to pop off his head (the only way to kill the monster). Yay physics!
Sequels/prequels?: None that I know of at this time.
Is this a good movie?: Meh
Why did Kayla watch this movie?: I saw it at the Redbox and heard it was pretty good.
Does Kayla like this movie?: No
Should you watch this movie?: Sure
Why you should watch this movie: If you don't care about suspending disbelief, don't mind seeing children slaughtered, and can deal with characters repeatedly making bad decisions... then yes. Also if you're afraid of clowns I'm sure it'll give ya a good fright.
Where you can watch this movie (as of this posting): Check your local Redbox.
Extra advice: Eli Roth had his hands in this if that helps inform your decision on to watch or not to watch.
